Dustex Emissions Control System - Chalmette, LA

Cement

Phoenix Industrial collaborated with Dustex, a customer since 2009, to supply and install a baghouse and wet scrubber system for Rain II, a petroleum coke production facility in Chalmette, Louisiana. The project schedule was extremely challenging from the onset. Work began in December of 2014 during the Gulf Coast rainy season, within the Mississippi river floodplain.  All civil, concrete and subsurface utility work was essentially completed in flood conditions, and required persistent dewatering and soil stabilization efforts to maintain a safe workplace.  Scope included: pile driving; excavation; form/rebar/placement of 1400-CY of structural concrete; erection of structural steel to an elevation of 125 feet; installation of new 13.5 KV electrical feed; power distribution and control work; assembly, rigging, and setting baghouse modules; waste silo and wet scrubber; installation and alignment of new ID fan. Phoenix achieved the project schedule goal of a fixed end date and shutdown window, despite the adverse weather conditions.
